Change of name
For the past several months we have felt we needed to change our name, due to our desire to move into research, case study and aid projects outside of the Sunshine Coast area. There are a number of projects we have on our drawing board at the moment, and we hope these will start taking shape now our name change has been approved. We are still a registered charity and not for profit organisation, and will still operate primarily from the Kendall Permaculture Farm in Kin Kin, Queensland. The Kendall Permaculture Farm will remain our main education and demonstration site, and we continue to run interns, volunteers, trainees, tours and some courses and workshops on the property.
We also aim to add more community building activities at the Kendall Permaculture Farm such as the CelebrATE! event, combining permaculture, music and food to create a community feel among its participants. Accordingly we have added more objectives (as per our home page on our website permeco.org).
We will maintain a mutually supporting relationship with Geoff and Nadia Lawton and PRI Australia, but as a consequence of growth in knowledge within the organisation and the direction we would like to move towards, the Permaculture Research Institute Sunshine Coast Inc. has changed its name to PermEco Inc.
PermEco stands for “Permanently Productive Ecosystems”, which is what we educate, train, research and do case studies in. We are promoting Permaculture as well as other regenerative agriculture techniques (which ultimately fall under the banner of Permaculture anyway, as all methods used by us are in co-operation with nature and by studying and promoting natural processes).
Stay tuned to our website and facebook pages for more information as our projects start taking shape! We trust this is a positive step forward and aim for your continued support!
Congratulations on the evolution of your work and focus. A great step into a wider arena. Wishing you ever success. Gordon and Hanneke
Thanks Gordon and Hanneke, hope you are both well!
