Every year in winter we have some lettuce in the Permaculture kitchen garden which comes up all by itself. This self sown lettuce usually comes up in a group or a couple of groups in our garden beds. We love that! This means the lettuce is strong, so we try to harvest seed once it has seeded off (after feeding us for a while!)
