Permaculture Party: Formidable Vegetable, Mal Webb & Kylie Morrigan and Farm Tour!
We are very pleased to have our crazy Formidable Vegetable friends coming to hang out with us after Woodford Folk Festival! They will be doing a house concert here on Friday 4 January 2019. Come and join us and dance to their fantastic permaculture songs. Our grandson still sings “My dad’s dunny doesn’t flush”, one of their songs he heard when they played here last at CelebrATE! 2017…
Western Australia’s Formidable Vegetable Sound System are the world’s most triumphant experiment in ecological electro-funk-swing, busting out energetic, quirky mashups of speakeasy-style antique-beats with live ukulele, hyperactive horns and the principles of permaculture. WAM Song of the Year and Australian Independent Music Video Award winners, the 4-piece from Fremantle (via Melbourne), Australia have been touring both hemispheres since 2012 and aren’t about to stop now. See more on their website by clicking here.
Vocal adventurer, multi-instrumentalist and looping beatboxing songwriter Mal sings his brain provoking songs using all sorts of vocal techniques, guitar, mbira, slide trumpet, trombone, chromatic harmonica and a loop recording pedal called Derek. And Kylie (who’s played with Orchestra Victoria and the likes of Stevie Wonder and Barry White!) provides violin and voice in a perfect balance to Mal’s nutsness. Their arrangements are intricate and playful. Imagine Einstein, Dr Seuss and Paganini making pancakes. For more info about them please click here.
International Permaculture Speaker, Consultant and Teacher Tom Kendall will also do a farm tour for interested people from 5pm on that day. The tour is by donation. This educational tour is inspiring for people interested in self sufficiency, gardening, animal systems and natural building. Tom always makes his tours an incredible educational experience! Check out his food forest, biogas system, holistic animal management systems, composting practices and much more!
There will be tea and cake available also by donation. Please note this is an alcohol, smoke and drug free property. The local cafe Black Ant Gourmet on the Main Street in Kin Kin has pizza nights on Friday, so feel free to order some pizzas to pick up and bring them for dinner before the music starts. Alternatively you can BYO dinner and alcohol free beverages.
The Formidable Vegetable Sound System will start playing around 7.30pm, bring your dancing shoes!
Tour and tea and cake donations go towards expenses incurred on the farm, all entry fees go directly to the band.
We hope to see you all here and celebrate the new year with us by having a Permaculture Party!
